Double buggy - do it!
So, you’ve spent the last three weeks falling down a YouTube rabbit hole of pram reviews, haven’t you? I know that feeling. Choosing your first buggy feels bigger than choosing your first car. You want something sleek, something that says "I’m a cool, organized mum," and something that fits through a standard doorway without a struggle. But before you pull the trigger on that gorgeous single-seater, I have a little secret to share: Buy the convertible double.
I know, I know. Right now, you’re just focused on the one little human currently using your bladder as a stress ball. Thinking about a second baby might feel like imagining a marathon when you can barely walk to the fridge. But trust me, life has a funny way of fast-tracking things. Whether you’re planning a close age gap or the universe decides to surprise you with a "bonus" baby sooner than expected, having a buggy that grows with your family is a total sanity-saver.
Think about the alternative for a second. If you buy a standard single pram now and Baby #2 arrives eighteen months later, you’re stuck in "Resale Hell." You’ll find yourself taking twenty different photos of your pram, trying to scrub out a mysterious biscuit stain, and listing it on Facebook Marketplace. Then, you’ll spend three days answering "Is this still available?" from people who will eventually ghost you. After all that stress, you’ll still have to cough up another several hundy for a brand-new double that you should have got in the first place.
By choosing a convertible buggy from day one, you’re essentially future-proofing your life. These things are engineering masterpieces; they look exactly like a stylish single stroller, but they have hidden "magic" adapters that let you click in a second seat or a car seat whenever you’re ready. It means you only have to learn how to fold one chassis, you only have to find space in the boot for one frame, and you never have to deal with the "I can't leave the house because I don't have enough seats" panic.
Even if you don’t have a second baby right away, that extra-sturdy frame usually comes with a basket the size of a small SUV. It’s perfect for the weekly shop, the mountain of "just in case" nappies, and the three different coats you’ll inevitably end up carrying.
So, do your future self a massive favour. Skip the single-seat struggle and get the one that transforms. You might feel a bit OTT buying a "double-capable" pram for one baby, but when you’re strolling through the park with two tiny humans and zero stress, you’ll feel like an absolute geeenius. Magic!
